An IPA project to equip disadvantaged individuals in Istanbul with the vocational skills needed by the chemical sector.
- Training programme development
- Human resources needs analysis for the chemical sector
The need
The project’s starting point was that poor and disadvantaged individuals living in Istanbul were unable to access employment in the chemical sector because they lacked the vocational knowledge and skills the sector needs. The absence of a data-driven analysis of chemical companies’ human resources needs, and of a training-to-employment mechanism to meet those needs, made it difficult both for companies to access qualified staff and for disadvantaged individuals to find employment. In response to this need, IKMIB, with IPA support, researched the knowledge and skills required by chemical companies and prepared a vocational training programme.
Force & Brothers’ approach
Force & Brothers carried out the human resources needs analysis for the chemical sector and fed its results into the vocational training programme. During the project, our team also set up a recruitment platform bringing together participants who had completed the training and companies looking for staff.
Outcome
By the end of the project, disadvantaged individuals in Istanbul had been equipped with the vocational skills needed by the chemical sector and, thanks to the recruitment platform, had gained direct access to employment opportunities. In this way, the project strengthened both the participants’ sustainable employment and chemical companies’ access to a qualified workforce.
