A study examining the experiences of KADEM volunteers and the human resource needs of the Women’s Support Centres in the earthquake zone.

The need
The starting point of the “Our Hearts Are One” project (“Gönüllerimiz Bir”) was KADEM’s limited volunteering capacity and the fact that, despite the growing human resource needs of the Women’s Support Centres in the earthquake zone, routes for volunteer participation and volunteer role descriptions had not been clearly structured. In response to this need, the project carried out review and research work on the expectations and motivations of existing volunteers and their experiences with the organisation.
Force & Brothers’ approach
In addition to preparing the research methodology, Force & Brothers also conducted the field data collection process. The findings gathered by our team were brought together in a digital and printed handbook explaining KADEM’s volunteering programme, the routes for participation and the roles volunteers can take on.
Outcome
By the end of the study, KADEM’s volunteering capacity had been made visible through concrete data, and a sustainable volunteer participation model had been created for the Women’s Support Centres in the earthquake zone. The handbook gave the relationship that both existing volunteers and new participants have with the organisation a clearer and more lasting structure.
