A programme supporting the vocational skills and access to employment of refugees and disadvantaged Turkish citizens.
- Training programme development
- Social and economic research
The need
The project was launched in response to the fact that refugees and disadvantaged citizens of the Republic of Türkiye lacked the vocational skills required by the labour market and therefore faced a significant disadvantage in accessing employment. The absence of a data-driven analysis of labour needs in the target sectors, and of a training programme matching those needs, made it difficult to match participants with employers effectively. In response to this need, GIZ, Bahçeşehir University and the Ankara Chamber of Industry researched labour needs in the target sectors and developed a blended vocational training programme.
Force & Brothers’ approach
Force & Brothers took on the development of the training programme and the financial management of the project, and also set up mechanisms within the project to help participants reach employers after the training. In addition, the project included labour-needs analyses for Syrians under Temporary Protection (SuTP) and Turkish citizens, as well as field analyses measuring the impact of the training and job placement rates.
Outcome
By the end of the project, refugees and disadvantaged citizens of the Republic of Türkiye had gained vocational skills matching the needs of the target sectors, along with access to mechanisms helping them reach employers. In this way, the project gave participants’ entry into the labour market a concrete and sustainable structure.
