01

The need

In 19 provinces of Türkiye with large refugee and host communities, the lack of adequate school infrastructure to give Syrian children and Turkish citizen children access to safe, good-quality learning environments was a key driver of the first two phases of the programme. Besides the shortage of physical infrastructure, the absence of an effective communication and awareness effort to support enrolment rates and social cohesion was another barrier to accessing education. In response to this need, the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye and KfW Development Bank, with FRIT funding, built and equipped 159 schools in 19 provinces through a five-year investment programme.

02

Force & Brothers’ approach

Force & Brothers carried out the programme’s visibility, communication and dissemination activities, prepared content on the completed school investments and implemented communication activities supporting school enrolment and social cohesion in different provinces.

03

Outcome

By the end of the programme’s first two phases, 159 schools had been built in 19 provinces and furnished with educational equipment. Thanks to the visibility and dissemination activities, the completed investments were shared effectively with the public, and awareness of school enrolment and the social cohesion process was strengthened in different provinces. Throughout the project, visibility and communication activities were carried out in line with the EU’s visibility requirements: a project website was set up, school groundbreaking and opening ceremonies were organised, a project information line was launched, books and information content on social access and project outputs were created, local information meetings were held and information materials about the project were produced.
