Within the scope of the study, carried out for the Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Association (IKMIB), the current structure of the Turkish chemicals sector was examined through a multidimensional approach, and a comprehensive analysis process was conducted with contributions from representatives of the public sector, the private sector, academia and civil society.
During the study:
the institutional structure that shapes the chemicals sector in Türkiye was examined in detail,
national plans, programmes and policy documents were analysed,
a comparative benchmarking study was carried out using international examples,
focus group discussions were held with academics and sectoral stakeholders,
in-depth interviews were conducted with public institutions,
a needs analysis survey was administered to companies in the sector,
and the findings were evaluated on a multi-stakeholder basis at a Collective Intelligence Workshop attended by more than 50 participants.
Thanks to this integrated approach, the study was not limited to desk-based analysis; it produced a comprehensive evaluation process supported by field data and stakeholder views.
With the critical inputs it supplies to many branches of industry and its strong position in exports, the Turkish chemicals sector remains one of the strategic areas of the national economy. In this context, the TKA Pre-Feasibility Study is an important piece of work in which the sector’s current structure was addressed holistically and evaluated through a multi-stakeholder approach.
